Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2014 Chevrolet Equinox- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Yakima full back two-bike trunk mount rack, Part Number Y02634.Now, we already have a bike installed. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features.Now, we're going to have on each end of the arm an integrated cable lock that can come and wrap around your second bike and latch onto that notch right there, and then you can use your set of keys that comes with the bike rack to insert it there and unlock it. On the other arm, you're going to have a bottle opener that Yakima likes to put on all of their products.Our bike has three different points where it's secured to our bike rack. We have two zip strips on the top of our bike frame. Then we have a zip strip right here securing it into the anti-rattle cradle. Once that's secured, this can prevent the bike from shaking too much while we're traveling. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Equinox we're going to be test fitting the Yakima FullBack two bike rack, part number Y02634. This can carry up to two bikes, and we already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features.We're going to start at the ends of the arms, here. At the end of this arm here, we have the patented Yakima bottle opener, which is pretty common amongst their bike rack. On the other end, however, we do have an integrated cable lock, which will wrap around the outermost bike and come back and attach itself here, and lock into place to secure your bikes to the bike rack once it's installed. The cradles, themselves, are stationary, meaning they don't move back and forth, or side to side, however they do have this TPE padding here, and that's going to act as a shock absorber while you're traveling, to help protect the frame of your bike. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima HalfBack 2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack, part number Y02636. This can carry up to two bike. We already have one installed, so let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Starting at the ends of the arms here, on both ends we do have the patented Yakima bottle openers, as you would find on most of their bike racks, and then moving back to the cradles here, these are going to be stationary, meaning they can't move back and forth, but they do have this TPE padding here at the base, which is going to act as kind of a shock absorber for the frame as you're traveling, to help protect it. This also has the padding here at the base, as well as the bottom of our ZipStrips here, and that's again for the protection of your frame to keep it from getting any scratches on it once you're installing it or traveling.It's going to hold your bike at three points, so we're going to have two ZipStrips up at the top, and then one off to the side, and that's going to serve as an anti-sway cradle to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth and causing bike-to-bike contact. Now, one thing about these anti-sway cradles is they are adjustable, and if we push them up and out of the way, it makes loading and unloading the bikes much easier. more

Malone Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2008 Chevrolet Impala- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2008 Chevrolet Impala, we're going to be test fitting the Malone Hanger 3 Trunk Mount Bike Rack, part number NPG2142. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features.The cradles are adjustable back and forth and side to side and can be tightened down with this Phillips head screw, here, and they are padded as well as they have these grooves on the inside of them, here, so the cables your bike can rest inside there instead of being smashed up against the frame once you install your bike.It does have these very flexible strips to tighten them down and there's only going to be two points of contact and that's going to be these points at the top frame. It does also come along with this stabilization strap, here. We only have it wrapped on our tire just to make sure it doesn't make contact with our vehicle, but it does come with two straps that you would put around all three bikes as well as the bike rack itself to keep everything together and keep it from moving back and forth while you drive.There is an issue that I'd really like to point out, here. In this particular case with how we have this set up, the pedal may make contact with your vehicle, so you may need to have something, a pad of some sort, to wrap around your pedal to make sure it doesn't damage your vehicle once you drive.Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Sonic we'll be taking a look the Yakima FullBack Trunk Mount 2 Bike Rack, that part number is Y02634. Now we already have one of our bikes installed on here, we're going to go over some features, show you have we secure our bike down, and take a few measurements.To start off how our bike is secured down we're going to have 3 straps all together, these are also known as ZipStrips, we'll have two on the frame here and one is our anti-sway in the back, which is going to help prevent our bike from swinging too far back and forth and possibly making contact with the other bikes. To release those we're going to pinch the two tabs on the sides and we'll just pull straight out. Then we can take our bike off and set it off to the side.One great thing about our cradles here is that they do have a rubber coating, they're gonna be cushioned to prevent any scratches or abrasions, they'll also allow for your brake lines to sit without causing any damage there. I do suggest you replace your ZipStrips so they don't get lost of damaged. Another great think about this rack is that we do have a bike lock on the end of the rack so you can secure that last bike and prevent both bikes from being taken off.Now we'll take a few measurements here. more

Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2016 Chevrolet Impala- Video
Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Impala we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima Half Back Trunk Mount 2 Bike Rack, part number Y02636. As you can see we already have our bike securely mounted to the bike rack, and they're going to have two points on top, and one on the vertical part of the frame here. To take the bike off simply push in on the tabs, pull the zip strip out, and our bike will come right off. Now it is a good idea to always go ahead and replace these, that way we don't have to worry about them getting lost or damaged. With our bike off we'll go ahead and take a quick few measurements. Overall this bike rack's going to add right around about 24-1/4" to the overall length of the vehicle. Now we do have the option to rotate the arms down to give us a little bit more room. more

Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Impala, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Thule Gateway XT Trunk Mount Two-Bike Rack. As you can see we already have our bike securely mounted to the bike rack. You got three mounting points, two on the crossbar here and one right here. To take it off, simply pull the straps off, and we can take our bike right off. With the bike off, we'll take a few quick measurements. Overall, we're going to be adding right about 13-1/4" to the total length of the vehicle. Now, we do have the option to swing our arms down to give us a little bit of extra room. more

The cradles are padded and have these slots in here so once you put the bikes on it's not going to scratch them up and your cables actually have a place to sit and not rub up against the frame as well. The cradles are adjustable along the length of the arms to assist with fitting, and it grips the bike at three points. We have two straps up at the top here and one off to the side and that's going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth and possibly coming into contact with the other. more

Let's go ahead and taking a closer look and show off some of the features. The first feature I'd like to show off is that it has an integrated cable lock. You would pull it out, wrap it around the bike in the front, and lock it to this point here to prevent theft and tampering of both your bikes. The cradles themselves have this nice cushioning material here, so your bike is not going to get scratched up once it's being installed. more

Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The cradles themselves are adjustable along the arms and they also have this nice cushion here, which is going to keep your bikes from getting scratched up, once you have them installed. It's going to grip the bike at 3 points and we're going to have 2 straps up at the top here and 1 off to the side and that's going to serve as an anti sway strap, to keep the bike from moving to far back and forth and possibly hitting the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. To assist with getting the bike off, you can actually fold anti sway cradles up and out of the way, to ease that a little bit for you. With the bike rack in this position, I'm going to go ahead and give you a quick measurement. more

Thule Archway Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2014 Chevrolet Sonic- Video
Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Sonic we're going to be test fitting the Thule Archway XT 2-Bike Rack, part number TH9009XT. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first feature I like to show off is the fact that it has an integrated cable lock here at the end. You'll pull it out, wrap it around your bikes, and then attach it to this point here and lock it down so you can prevent theft and tampering. The cradles are adjustable along the arms which is going to assist you with loading. It also has these nice cushioned pads here, so your bike is not going to get scratched up or damaged once it's being installed. It attaches to the bike at three points. more

We first going to show you how we do that. We've got two cradles in place with three straps altogether, two on our frame and one as our anti-sway in the back. These are also known by Yakima as Zip Strips. more

We're first going to show you how we do that. We have 2 cradles in place with 3 straps, 2 on our frame, and one as our anti sway strap in the back. We'll start by pulling down and lifting up to release those. Then we can pull our bike off and set it off to the side. With our bike out of the way, we can take a look at one of the features of our cradles. more
